Education is a way of transforming individuals and society. Level of growth or development of persons and community is determined by exposure to local and international educational systems. Parents are the first teachers of a child or children and if any of the parents fail to perform required responsibilities, overall development of such offspring will suffer.
An important area of education is education for persons with special needs. All children have unique characteristics that should be nurtured in order to get good results. Factually, God is the giver of all children. Presence of any child with disability in a family or society is not a curse or incurable phenomenon. All children can learn if appropriate educational programmes or services are put in place. There are various professionals that are available to positively influence the lives and families of persons living with disabilities.
Special Education, Special Needs Education, Rehabilitation Sciences and/or Inclusive Education are available in some Nigerian Institutions to improve lives of people. Dele Odedele of Federal College of Education-Special, Oyo is one of the experts in this field.
